Duplicate/Dual Monitor Setup & Troubleshooting (Windows OS)

All laptops and desktops provided by The I.T. Experience have the capability of supporting up to 2 monitors. When configuring dual monitors, there are a few procedures to follow to ensure the monitor is detected and displays the content you want.

Setting up your monitor
  1. Once the the monitor is setup and plugged into power, you must verify the monitor is set to the correct input (VGA, Displayport, HDMI, etc.)
    1. You can adjust the input of your monitor by using the OSD (On Screen Display) menu which is normally accessed by pressing the "Menu" or "Input" button on your monitor.
  2. Once the monitor is set to the correct input, at this point you can connect the other end of your cable to your laptop or desktop - do not connect the cable to your desktop/laptop prior to setting the input on your monitor
Configuring your multiple displays
  1. Once your display has been detected, you can then adjust the settings from within the Windows Operating System
  1. Select Start > Settings > System > Display. Your PC should automatically detect your monitors and show your desktop. If you don't see the monitors, select Detect.
  2. In the Multiple displays section, select an option from the list to determine how your desktop will display across your screens. You can also choose which monitor will be considered your "Main Display"
  3. Once you've selected what you see on your displays, select Keep changes.
  4. You can change the resolution of your displays, however, we suggest using the recommended resolution to get the most out of your displays.

Troubleshooting
In the case your monitor is not being detected by Windows, perform the below steps:
  1. Verify the monitor is on the correct input (VGA, Displayport, HDMI, etc.)
  2. Verify the video cable is securly connected to the monitor (remove the cable and insert again firmly)
  3. Unplug the video cable from your laptop/desktop
  4. Restart your laptop/desktop fully (do not log off, select "Start>Power>Restart")
  5. Once your system has restarted, log back in.
  6. Once your system has fully booted after login, reconnect the video cable back to your laptop/desktop.
